We live in an age of instant gratification where everything is about material possessions and making sure that your life appears perfect to others. From Snapchat and Facebook to Instagram most of us are obsessed with documenting our so called perfect lives that are far from perfect on social media. This doesn’t bring us any joy or happiness. Here, we list 7 daily habits that you should follow to bring real happiness and peace to your life.

1) You must exercise on a daily basis

Working out on a daily basis is very beneficial not only for your health but also for your mind. Working out or exercising releases feel good hormones known as endorphins which make you happy. Start by working out for at least half an hour every day and soon you’ll be hooked and you’ll see what a positive difference it makes in your life. Being physically active also enables you to sleep better at night.

2) Appreciate and be grateful for the little things in life

Being grateful or thankful for the little things in your life and appreciating these things on a daily basis promotes a feeling of well-being and happiness. It doesn’t have to be a big thing; be thankful for your parents, for your friends for the good food that you are able to enjoy; all these things help you stay positive, focused and enthusiastic towards life.

Maintain a gratitude journal or write down three things you appreciate in your life every day before you go to sleep. This will heighten your sense of well-being.

3) Surround yourself with positive people

Have you noticed that you feel happier and positive around some people as compared to the others? This is because happy people spread positive vibes or energy and their happiness is contagious and lifts the spirits of others. You must ensure that you hang out or surround yourself with positive people so that you remain happy, optimistic and open to the new things in life.

Negative people not only bog you down with their attitude but they also put you in a bad mood and hold you back from reaching your full potential. So, make sure you stay away from such people and spread positive vibes around you.

4) Make sure that you take a break from your busy routine/schedule

All of us lead fast-paced lives where we forget to take a break, relax and unwind. It is essential to take short breaks from time to time to make sure that your mind is relaxed, calm and your body and soul is rejuvenated.  You can meditate, go for a short walk in the park or go for a short vacation. Just make sure you have some downtime planned on a daily basis.

5) Spend your money on amazing experiences and not on things/possessions

Material possessions may give us instant gratification but experiences keep us happy and fulfilled in the long term. Experiences make you grow out of your comfort zone and grow as a person. From going on a hot air balloon ride and an African safari to a beach party in Ibiza, experiences will increase your happiness quotient and make you stay young at heart. So, plan your next adventure as soon as possible!

6) Make a habit of getting up early

This is something that you have definitely heard before. Waking up early in the morning is something that all or most super successful people have in common. Not only does it make you more productive but it also allows you to become more organized and have more time for yourself. It might be hard at the beginning, but it is totally worth the effort and once you make it a habit, you will absolutely love it.  Try it for 25 days and you will be amazed at how this habit will change your life and make you happy as well.

7) Constantly learn new things and upgrade your skills

You’ll be surprised to hear that new challenges and learning new things can bring you a whole lot of happiness. When you learn new things, you are challenging yourself and this is known to trigger happiness in people. It is very easy to fall into a comfortable zone and be in a rut but learning new and novel things makes us grow as individuals and increases our chances of happiness as well.
